PLANNING ANALYTICS (TM1) BACKUP AND RECOVERY GUIDE

Every Planning Analytics Environment, formerly TM1, goes through various instances and degrees of an update failure(i.e., from few elements of dimension missing to entire dimension blown away or data missing because of DW update failure…etc.). Resolving these issues will require backups to be restored.

For a while now, I have had access to the document from IBM for backup and restoring TM1. Fortunately, the backup and restore process is still the same for newly rebranded Planning Analytics. The link to the PDF document from IBM is listed below.

If you need the entire model to be restored then

  • Shut down the TM1 Server
  • Simply replace the sdata folder with the one from your backup.

Note: A general practice we follow is to keep a running two weeks’ worth of daily backups.
